Venturing into the world of Thai snacks can be an intimidating one with an overwhelming variety to choose from. With minimal calories to spare, let us now dive into the depths of the lesser-known Thai snacks which you should at least try once in your lifetime.

1.  Fashion Food Paprika

PACKAGING: Let us begin by first addressing the elephant in the room. Even though there are jalapenos plastered all over the packaging, none are used except for paprika. But rest assure these chips DID NOT skimp on paprika.

WHAT DID IT TASTE LIKE: People who enjoy a crispy potato chip probably won't be a huge fan. This is a soft chip with a mild, inoffensive taste which is good on its own without any additional dips.

2.  TRIPLE SIX PLUS - Vacuum Freeze-Dried Mhorn Thong Durian

WHAT TO EXPECT: As the product itself is freeze-dried without any additives and preservatives, expect a punch equivalent to a fresh durian fruit. Even though the product can be slightly costly, we feel it is worth every buck especially with the escalating prices of durian over the years.

WHAT DID IT TASTE LIKE: Real durian. Nuff said.

3.  SUAN DUSIT - Milk Tablet

Royal Chitralada Milk (Dusit) Candy is a household name in Thailand. This is actually a Thai product under “Royal Chitralada Agricultural Projects”, developed and promoted by Thai Royals. A must-purchase on your trips to Thailand; this has yet to make its mark on our local population.

WHAT DID IT TASTE LIKE: Surprisingly reminiscent of the milk powdered drinks you had as a kid. Not too sweet with a touch of savouriness, we could easily finish a sachet in 15 minutes.
